I recently found this wonderful group of Yamagata style Kokeshi.  The largest is almost 6" tall and the smallest is 2 1/2".  I believe that the signature on the bottom of the largest one is Kobayashi Eizo.

 

It is a challenge to identify makers marks and signatures without reading calligraphy.  Keeping in mind that not everything on the web is accurate, I have been collecting a reference library of Kokeshi marks and signatures from various sources that also identify the maker in English.  I'm hoping the Evans and Wolf book, which I just bought, will be helpful.  This early in the collection there is no pattern to my acquisitions except to add dolls which appeal to me as works of art, understanding that most of them were not created with that intent.
