This Foster Brothers WWII OSS Knuckle Knife uses the blade of an 1873 US Springfield triangular socket Bayonet and uses a piece of black rubber hose for the grip. The stamped knucklebow, made by Foster Brothers, was welded to the tang of the triangular blade.
This piece was made for the Fil-American Irregular Troops (FAIT) in the Philippines during WWII. These troops were authorized by General Douglas MacAuthur during the seige of Bataan for guerrilla operations against the Japanese occupation forces of the Philippine Islands. Not many of these pieces were made because of prior production commitments by Foster Bros. with the U.S. Government for other weapons like the Marine Corps 'Chatillon' and such. This piece has an overall length of 13 5/8 inches with a 7 1/4 inch triangular, hollow ground blade. The grip is 4 1/4 inches long and the knucklebow measures 4 3/8 inches long by 1 1/2 inches high. There is a 1 7/8 inch protrusion of the blade for the pommel. The rubber of the grip is in excellent condition and the overall condition is very good with only minimal light, fine pitting of the blade. Cleaning would be in order. ...... $475.00 |
