19th Or 20th Century Bronze Seated Shakyamuni Buddha From Nepal

This is a bronze figure of Shakyamuni Buddha seated in Maravijaya posture on a single lotus pedestal. The face has fine features with downcast eyes, and a serene expression. There is a garment tied at the waist, and a flowing robe which drapes over the shoulders. The figure was attached to the base after casting, the overall height is about 15 3/4 inches, it weighs about 9 1/2 pounds, and the bottom is open. There are no maker's marks, but I believe the piece is from Nepal. I do not know when this bronze was made, but it is old enough to have acquired some minor areas of oxidation and superficial rubs and scratches. There are spots where the workmanship seems a bit crude, but the bronze has an attractive brown patina, and the figure has a strong presence ...
