Here is a wonderful antique rock crystal snuff bottle dating from the 1700's, formerly in the collection of the late Avery Brundage. It measures 2 1/2" high x 1 9/16" x aprox. 3/4" thick. The bottle is very well hollowed, and has a carved mask on each shoulder, and a carved, 'footed' bottom rim. The condition is quite good. There is a very minor flake on the inside top rim, a couple of minor flakes on the edge of the foot and the expected minor surface scratches and mars that one might expect for a 200+ year old piece. There is an inclusion that can be seen in the neck - it can be seen but not felt. I've not washed the piece, so what shows in the photos is the actual residue on the inside of the bottle. The top is a greenish/white stone - perhaps jade - on a metal base with a spoon that appears to be ivory. I can not tell if the top is original to the bottle ...... SOLD |
