This is a very lovely Japanese Akasuke, or "pigeon blood", red cloisonne vase. Finding such a cloisonne now-a-days, with shakudo rims, is quite unusual thus making this vase quite uncommon. The foil design is of birds and flowering tree branches. The piece measures 3 1/2" high and about 2 3/4" at the shoulder. The vase is in beautiful condition with no bumps, scratches or fractures. The bottom of the vase is unmarked and the finish shows some wear. The top rim has two tiny flakes of the shakudo, but the bottom rim is fine ...... SOLD
