This is a finely decorated, beautiful miniature Kutani vase, the likes of which comes along perhaps once in a decade. Not only is it a wonderfully detailed piece, but the glaze is a rare cobalt with areas of lighter streaks, expecially on the inside of the mouth. The decoration is as fine or finer than the best Satsuma and is not only executed in gold, but also in copper colored lacquers/enamels - the photos show the exquisitely detailed decoration. All of this on a piece that measures only 2 7/16" tall by 1 1/8" in diameter! This earthenware piece is unmarked and is in very nice condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. There is some light rubbing of the lacquer in areas and some rubbing of the teapot in one of the reserves, but nothing that can be clearly seen without the use of a glass/loop ...... $250.00
