Japanese Repousse Cloisonne Vase

This is a beautiful and very unusual Japanese Ginbari cloisonne vase measuring approx. 4 3/4 inches tall and dating to the early part of the 1900s. The designs of the primary flower and bud are done with Repousse and Moriage techniques to raise them above the level of the surface and bring them into rather high relief. The rest of the flower and leaf design is executed with very fine wires that appear to be silver. The top and bottom rims of the piece are silver washed brass, though most of the silver is worn off. The enamel on this piece is in excellent condition. There is one very small spot, just under the top rim where there is a 1/2 inch stress line with minimal discoloration and no oxidation of the silver foil. The piece is not marked or signed. This is not the type of piece that one often sees......SOLD
