This wonderfully done woodblock print by Hasui, with it's subtle shading, definitely gives the viewer the feeling of standing next to the pool and being bathed in the light of a full moon on a peaceful night while gazing at the reflection of the nearby lantern. The lack of the usual bright or intense colors used by Hasui lends to this nighttime illusion with great effect. The image size of this print is 14 5/8" high by 9 9/16" wide, with an overal size of 15 3/16" by 10 1/2". The margins are not trimmed, there is no toning, folds, tears or foxing, but the print may have been framed at one time as there is minor evidence of tape residue on the reverse, the top margin in particular. Originally done in 1938, this print is a later, but not new, edition that has been stored in a portfolio and resting on acid-free paper for the past 20 years ...... $175.00
