This is a nice Japanese watercolor by Y. Matsumoto of a man carrying wood along a mountain road. Though there is some toning and changing of the colors in part of the sky, overall the colors are clear and the darker blues and violets give the impression of the man heading home after a days work. The man is quite well depicted and the overall detailing is very good. The piece measures 13" high by 9 1/2" wide. There is a small nick along the top edge, as well as two short tears - each 1/4" long - at the top center edge. There is minimal toning of the edge from a long previous matting and very little colour change from light exposure. The back of the paper shows some burn from previous materials used for framing ...... $100.00
