. This is a set of 3 oversize Japanese woodblock prints by the famous Toshi Yoshida. This series - "Friendly Garden" - was commissioned by the Franklin Gallery and published in (copyright) 1980. To the best of my knowledge - as well as from what research I've been able to accomplish - this series is the only example of a tryptych that was ever produced by Mr. Yoshida. Toshi Yoshida, the son of Hiroshi Yoshida, passed on in the mid 1990's and his pencil signed works are in high demand. Each of the 3 prints is pencil signed in the bottom margin with calligraphy. The prints consist of: "Pine Tree of the Friendly Garden", "Bamboo of the Friendly Garden" and "Plum Tree of the Friendly Garden". Each print is in its original frame with acrylic rather than glass, title notice on the back and, as far as I know and can tell, each print has the original, matching matting materials as when it was shipped from the Franklin facilities. Each frame measures 30 3/4" by 15 3/4". The image area of each print measures approx. 19 3/4" by 10 7/8" - not including margins. The prints have not been removed from their frames but the condition looks very good. I have found no indication of foxing, moisture or mat line ...... $850.00
