This is a beautiful, tall Japanese Kutani porcelain vase that probably dates to the late 1800's. The piece is decorated with 2 large reserves of birds, water and flowers. One reserve has 3 geese on a bank with large flowers. The second reserve has 4 smaller birds on a bank with large and small flowers and the view of a further shore shows a building and torii. There are 2 rather elaborate handles on the neck and the piece has a flaring mouth. Overall height is 14 1/2". The mouth measures about 3 7/8", the widest part of the body measures about 7" and the foot rim measures 4 5/8" in diameter. The piece is in exceptional condition with no chips, cracks or repairs that we can find and only the usual wear of the gilt. There is a spot in the reserve with 4 birds that looks like scratches or an abrasion. It will show up as a dark shadow in the sky to the upper right of the birds and measures about 7/8" long. The dark spots on the foot rim are from a clay or something that was used to secure or stablize the vase and is dried ...... $225.00
