This is a wonderfully shaped, glazed and decorated Oribe censer probably dating from the to the 1880's. The piece measures 3 1/4" high, 4 3/4" across the mouth and approx. 5 3/4" at the widest point. It has an impressed seal on the bottom that says Sakusuke Sei, a famous potter that worked at the Seto kilns and was well known for Oribe wares. I could not hope to describe it nearly as well as the photos portray it. It does seem to have metallic flecks in the green glaze and there is a thin glaze over the brown decorations that is almost milky in the few spots where it thickens. There are a couple of kiln/firing flaws on the inside, but the overall condition is excellent with no cracks, chips or restorations ...... $275.00
